3 Things My Medifast Diet Blog Taught Me About SEO

SEO used to be something only elite internet marketers used to talk about a few years ago, but now, almost every internet marketer is into SEO, and people are starting to do anything they can to increase their search engine rankings and get more traffic to their blogs. I’ve also been into SEO for years now, learning how things shape themselves and learning what works for others and what doesn’t. As a result, I have been implementing these tips on my nutrisystem and medifast diet blog to see what works first hand and what doesn’t. I have been using SEO for my blog for years now, and I have learned quite a lot in the process. In this article, I will be sharing with you some of the top lessons my medifast diet blog taught me about SEO.

1. Content Will Always be King

I know this sounds absurd, but it is, and will always be the reality. One thing about the most popular content on my blog is that I didn’t start a link building campaign for them, and they even send me more traffic every month compared to articles I start a link building campaign for. You might be wondering how this is possible, but the reason is quite simple. The articles on my blog that generate a lot of traffic without me building links to them are those articles that are very detailed and comprehensive, and as a result have gotten a lot of links. In other words, some of those articles have gotten hundreds of quality links without me having to lift a finger, whereas the articles I’m personally building links to only have a few quality links.

In other words, if you focus your efforts on writing great content you will end up gaining a lot of links, and as a result get a lot more traffic than you can imagine on the long run.

2. Links Control the Search Web

The next SEO lesson I learned from my medifast diet blog is that links control the web. Let’s face the reality, whether you like it or not, quality links are the most important element when it comes to websites being ranked in the search engines. Even if your article doesn’t mention the keyword of your choice at all, with the right quality of links and the right amount of it you can easily get ranked for any keyword you want. Whereas, with the best keyword copy for a competitive keyword and no backlinks, you will find it extremely difficult to move an inch let alone get ranked in the top position for the keyword of your choice.

3. Your Description is Very Important

Many people believe the Meta description they use for their articles is not important, probably because it has little to no influence on their rankings. In reality, your Meta tag is one of the most important factors as far as ranking in the search engines is concerned, not because it helps improve your rankings, but because it determines how many people will click through to your blog. Make your Meta description awesome, and you will be amazed to see how much more traffic you can get from the search engines.
